The Roberto Ivens house, old family house of architect Álvaro Siza and current headquarters of Casa da Arquitectura, is going to close for visits on the 16th october for a short period of time.

The closing of the house is a logistic requirement due to the inauguration of the new facilities in Real Vinícola block in the city of Matosinhos. The opening will take place on the 17th, 18th, 19th november.

The Roberto Ivens Street House rehabilitation began in January 2009 and ended on the 15th June. This is the restructuring of a house built in the mid-nineteenth century and remodelled in 1961 by architect Álvaro Siza at the request of his parents. It was intended that the restructuring of the house was, where possible, faithful to the 1961 project. Respecting the aesthetic intention of its author and always under his guidance, slight changes were made with the aim of making the space capable of receiving their new functions. It has spaces for the work team, a library, a showroom, a visitor’s reception, a small shop and a garden where several activities are planned. The official inauguration of CASA took place on 25 June 2009.
