Casa da Arquitectura and Flip establish partnership in the parallel programme of the 24th edition of Flip
The collaboration takes shape through the Casa Flip + Casa da Arquitectura initiative, which offers a programme dedicated to the intersection between literature, architecture, territory and contemporary thought. The initiative aims to promote dialogue between different areas of knowledge and cultural practices, deepening reflection on the space, memory and narratives that shape cities and communities, with a special focus on the territory of Paraty.
The first event of this partnership is Momento Zero — “Water, Heritage and Culture in Public Space”, a working meeting that will take place between 3 and 6 February 2026, in Paraty, bringing together Portuguese and Brazilian experts in the fields of architecture, urbanism, engineering, the environment, heritage and cultural mediation. The initiative is promoted by Casa da Arquitectura and Flip.
Momento Zero is based on an intensive working format, combining recognition of the territory, thematic reflection sessions and debates between experts, with the aim of bringing together different perspectives on the dynamics, landscapes and contemporary challenges of the Paraty territory, laying the conceptual foundations for the future programming of Casa Flip + Casa da Arquitectura.
The opening session will feature contributions from Mauro Munhoz, Brazilian architect and urban planner, co-founder and artistic director of Flip, and Nuno Sampaio, Portuguese architect and urban planner and executive director of Casa da Arquitectura. The various meetings will be attended by Manuel Salgado, Rui Furtado, André Farias Cavaco, Maria Eduarda Porto, David Zee and João Jeronimo Monticelli, among other invited experts.
The topics under discussion include, among others, the rehabilitation of public spaces, cultural heritage management, infrastructure in environmentally sensitive contexts, and the relationship between tourism, territory, and urban policies, in a cross-cutting approach that combines culture, planning, and sustainability.
Momento Zero closes with an event open to the public, aimed at sharing the reflections and conclusions of the meeting, as well as presenting the lines of work that will frame the development of the Casa Flip + Casa da Arquitectura programme in the context of Flip 2026.
This partnership is part of a strategy of continued cooperation between Portugal and Brazil, with the aim of consolidating and expanding, in the coming years, an international space for reflection, creation and sharing between literature, architecture and cultural citizenship.
