Casa da Arquitectura joins the country's largest renewable energy community
This new private law association marks the beginning of a new model for the production, sharing and consumption of renewable energy from the energy recovery of waste, making it the largest energy community in Portugal.
ENNO has 28 founding members, including 7 of LIPOR's 8 associated municipalities (Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Valongo and Vila do Conde); the municipalities of Paredes, Santo Tirso and Trofa; the Municipal Companies Ágora - Cultura e Desporto do Porto, Águas e Energia do Porto, Domus Social, Espaço Municipal, Maiambiente, Matosinhos Habit, Matosinhos Sport, Porto Ambiente, Porto Vivo SRU, STCP and Varzim Lazer; and entities such as APDL - Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo, Casa da Arquitetura, Centro Hospitalar Universitário São João, ISEP - Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Ordem dos Arquitetos - Secção Regional Norte, Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto and LIPOR itself.
The signing ceremony was followed by brief speeches by the Deputy Mayor of Vila do Conde, Sara Lobão, representing the Mayor and hosts of the ceremony, and by the Chairman of LIPOR's Board of Directors, José Manuel Ribeiro and the Director General of Energy and Geology, Paulo Carmona.
The Chairman of LIPOR's Board of Directors stressed: ‘With ENNO we will not only share electricity, but we will also give priority to designing an urgent innovative programme to fight energy poverty.
As a cultural institution committed to sustainable practices, Casa da Arquitectura is proud to be part of this pioneering project, which reinforces the importance of inter-municipal and institutional collaboration in building a more sustainable future.
