Casa da Arquitectura launches first 10 PhD scholarships with FCT support
The scholarships are part of the support for doctoral training provided for in the Cooperation Protocol between Casa da Arquitectura and the Portuguese State, specifically with regard to the government area of Science, Technology and Higher Education, through the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
The 10 scholarships are aimed at people with a degree in Architecture from different nationalities, with the intention of obtaining a doctoral degree, awarded by national universities, or in the case of international universities, which have a protocol relationship with a Portuguese university.
The areas of research to be funded are, preferably, architecture and urbanism, with themes that propose a new reading of Casa da Arquitectura's holdings and collections, with an emphasis on key contemporary themes such as sustainability, saving resources, the development of construction technologies or collective habitat.
The focus on the relationship between Portuguese architecture and other territories is another desirable area of research, maintaining the motto of research in the collections of the Casa da Arquitectura.
These first scholarships launched this year will be followed by others in 2025/26 and beyond.
