Danilo Santos de Miranda (1943-2023)
A great friend of Casa da Arquitectura, Danilo Miranda was in Matosinhos for the opening of the exhibition "Infinito Vão - 90 Anos de Arquitetura Brasileira" in 2018, and took part in a debate on the theme of Culture and Society.
A sociologist, philosopher and former seminarian, Danilo Miranda joined Sesc Paulista in 1968, dedicating 55 years of his life to what is considered one of Brazil's leading institutions.
During his directorship, a pioneering model of cultural promotion was created, which has become a benchmark for public policies to encourage culture in Brazil.
With a passion for the theatre, he promoted the expansion of SESC, opening new units and encouraging accessibility and social and cultural integration.
"The commitment of an institution focused on the public interest, as is our case and the case of those who carry out their actions from the perspective of a cultural policy, is ethical," he said in a recent interview.
To his family and friends, Casa da Arquitectura offers its deepest condolences.
Brazil has lost one of its greatest names.
