Secil Group is patron of Casa da Arquitectura
The group thus joins the ranks of Casa da Arquitectura's Patrons, who play a key role in promoting contemporary architecture and bringing it closer to all audiences.
For Secil, the patronage of Casa da Arquitectura represents "the strengthening of its position as a Portuguese company of reference for construction professionals, namely by valuing and promoting the excellence of architecture made in Portugal as the essential basis for quality construction. The best solutions conceived by Portuguese architects are essential to the safety, comfort and heritage of citizens and are best realised through the benchmark products produced by Secil."
The executive director of Casa, Nuno Sampaio, recalls that Secil "is a brand that has always paid special attention to architecture, an example of which is the Portuguese Architecture Prize that bears its name and is one of the most prestigious in our country". He added: "We are going to develop this special attention that Secil has given to Portuguese architecture, working on other ways of looking at and supporting architecture from a lasting perspective."
Secil is a business group founded in Portugal that bases its activity on the production and commercialisation of cement, concrete, aggregates, mortars and hydraulic lime. It also includes companies that operate in complementary areas in the circular economy, utilising waste as a source of energy.
The Secil Group has consolidated its position in Portugal, where it originated, and has expanded into other markets over the last two decades. It currently operates three cement plants in Portugal (Outão, Maceira and Pataias) and is present abroad in Angola, Tunisia, Lebanon, Cape Verde, Spain, the Netherlands and Brazil.
Through these eight cement plants and its presence in eight countries and four continents, the Secil Group guarantees an annual cement production capacity of over 9.75 million tonnes.
