New Collections and Souto de Moura's Exhibition marked 2019 at Casa da Arquitectura
After the Brazilian architecture, whose exhibition Infinito Vão - 90 Anos de Arquitetura Brasileira (Infinitive Span - 90 Years of Brazilian Architecture) dominated the calendar in 2018, mobilizing more than 33 thousand people in Portugal and Brazil, in 2019 it was Portuguese architecture and architects that booked the calendar, with the integration of several archives.
Following Pedro Ramalho in 2018, in 2019 the donations came from Francisco Melo and Jorge Gigante, the Lisbon architect Gonçalo Byrne and the deposit in CA’s archive of 40 years of architectural production of Eduardo Souto de Moura, from which was extracted the Exhibition Memory, Projects, Works, curated by Francisco Dal Co an Nuno Graça Moura.
The opening of the first monographic exhibition of Casa da Arquitectura in October 2019 was one of the most important moments of the year. Souto de Moura’s exhibition was visited, in the firsts two months, by approximately 11 thousand people.
But it was not the only indispensable Ex-libris of architecture. Open House Porto, in its fifth edition, came to confirm the huge success and popularity of Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia's population: this year, Open House Porto was the most visited of all times, with more than 37 thousand visits to the 70 spaces that integrate the itinerary.
The year of 2019 was also marked by the Exhibition Orgânico Racional (Racional Organic) of the architect Pedro Ramalho in the Casa's Gallery and, in November, with the huge party that was Casa's birthday, when Eduardo Souto de Moura was intitled Associated Partner of Casa da Arquitectura.
