Wood Architecture Prize: winner to be announced on March 12
The winning project of the 8th edition of the PNAM Prize will be announced on March 20, in a ceremony to be held at Teatro Aveirense. The programme includes a debate on the theme of sustainability in construction, with the participation of architect Pedro Gadanho, and a tribute to the life and work of João Luís Carrilho da Graça, a unique figure in the field of architecture.
The jury was chaired by architect Paulo Providência, winner of the previous edition. A total of 20 projects competed for the award, which this year introduces, for the first time, a new category dedicated exclusively to Students, with its own regulations and jury — PNAM-E — with the aim of promoting the teaching of wood use in construction.
PNAM’s mission is to promote the national forestry sector through innovation, valorisation and the responsible use of wood and its derivatives in architecture, fostering dialogue between academia, professionals and industry.
This prize aims to distinguish permanent works built in Portugal that demonstrate wood as an architecturally relevant material, authored by architects with a valid registration with the Portuguese Order of Architects.
Held biennially, PNAM is promoted by AIMMP – the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries, in partnership with the Order of Architects (OA) and the Portuguese Confederation of Construction and Real Estate (CPCI), with the institutional support of Casa da Arquitectura.
