Casa receives the visit of the President of the Portuguese Republic
In addition to Nuno Sampaio, CA's Executive Director, the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, and the President of the Municipal Assembly, Palmira Macedo, were also present.
The President of the Portuguese Republic visited the Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture , in Matosinhos, on 7 September 2018.
During this visit, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited the Brazil / Infinite Span Collection, an invaluable heritage that has come to Portugal and is part of the institution's permanent collection. The President of the Republic also visited the CA's archive and document processing centre, which featured projects by Eduardo Souto de Moura, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Álvaro Siza, Pedro Ramalho and João Álvaro Rocha, among others.
The Brazil Collection, which encompasses 90 years of Brazilian architecture, consists of 103 projects and more than 50,000 elements, including drawings, photographs, textual documents, films, models and even ceramics, among others.
This collection was presented to the public through a large exhibition, the most representative to date on Brazilian architecture, curated by Fernando Serapião and Guilherme Wisnik, which was inaugurated on 28, 29 and 30 September 2018 at Casa da Arquitectura e had the High Sponsorship of the Presidency of the Republic.
The show was accompanied by an extensive parallel program, co-curated by Nuno Sampaio, which ran until August 2019 in Portugal and Brazil.
The visit ended with a visit to the exhibitions currently on display at Casa da Arquitectura, respectively, “The Universalists – 50 years of Portuguese architecture” and “Still Cabanon”.
