Last guided tour of the LFA Prize exhibition “A Contemporary Look at Architecture”

The Old Town Hall, in Porto Cathedral, will host a final guided tour of the Luis Ferreira Alves (LFA) Award exhibition – International Photography Competition “A Contemporary Look at Architecture” on Saturday, 8 November, at 11:30 a.m. The exhibition will remain open until 30 November. The session, open to the general public, will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last approximately one hour.

The initiative will be led by Pedro Leão Neto, coordinator of the award and professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), accompanied by researchers Maria Neto and Ana Miriam Rebelo (AAI). The tour includes an introduction to the context and objectives of the award, the presentation of the award-winning series and honourable mentions, and a guided tour with five thematic stops that explore different ways of representing built space — from poetic photography to urban research and memory.

Among the award-winning photographers are Maho (1st Prize, represented), Cyril Weiner (2nd Prize), Sergio Belinchón (3rd Prize) and Amelia Lancaster (Special Mention).

The tour is free and aimed at students, photographers, architects, teachers, researchers, municipal technicians and the general public interested in the relationship between image, architecture and the city. Advance registration is recommended.

The Luis Ferreira Alves Award is promoted under a protocol established between the photographer's heirs and the competition's promoters — the Porto City Council (CMP) and Cityscopio – Cultural Association (CCA). It also has the institutional support of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N), the Marques da Silva Foundation Institute (FIMS), the Order of Architects (OA) and the Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture (strategic partner of the competition).

The project is also sponsored by CIN, BPI/Fundação “la Caixa” and Canon, and has Metro do Porto, Panoramah! and AMAG as communication partners.
