The strong growth of the Archive in just over four years gives note of the trust of the donors in Casa da Arquitectura (CA) and the notoriety that CA has achieved in such a short time. Since 2018, when the first effective entries of collections were registered, the Archive already has 14 collections, more than 2000 projects, donated by about 230 authors or heirs.
In terms of documentation, the CA collection already includes more than 25,000 drawings in analogue format, around 850 models, more than 30,000 analogue photographic records, more than 100,000 documents in digital format, 120 linear meters of textual documentation, publications and other objects, which document a chronological period from 1900 to the present day.
The Studies and Documentation Centre (CED) has the mission of promoting technical and scientific research projects, the production of new knowledge and content based on the intersection of architecture with other areas, thus contributing to the continuous promotion and appreciation of contemporary architecture.

The CED is responsible for providing the necessary conditions to promote and direct scientific research activities in the disciplinary areas of architecture, namely:
- Supporting the development of projects and studies and of technical and scientific research by professionals, researchers, academics and students;
- In cooperation and collaboration with different teaching, research and dissemination entities;
- Support architecture students and professors in their academic practice;
- In articulation with sovereign bodies, civil society and the business fabric to guarantee investment and support for research and the creation of scholarships;
- Responding to funding applications, funding competitions, as well as managing knowledge development projects;
- In the promotion and continuous creation of activities, seminars, publications that promote new readings and creation of different contents about the collections object of the CED;
- Welcoming researchers, professionals and trainees to carry out projects organized, coordinated or participated in by the CED;
- In the production and dissemination of R&D projects in the area of architecture and land use planning;
- Integration into international research networks, inspiring the participation of researchers in R&D projects and international conferences;
- In promoting the publication of books and scientific articles;
- In the systematic collection of documentation and publications in the area related to the CED object;
- In the promotion and exchange of knowledge, experiences and participation with different scientific, academic, professional and civil, national and international communities.
