Casa da Arquitetura launches a new round of its competition for 10 PhD scholarships, supported by FCT
The Casa da Arquitetura is launching a call for applications for 10 PhD research grants in the fields of architecture, urban planning and spatial planning, with a particular focus on the Casa da Arquitetura’s archives, estates and collections, as well as content relating to the history of architecture, construction technology, sustainability and energy efficiency.
The Casa da Arquitectura is launching a call for applications for 10 PhD research grants in the fields of architecture, urban planning and spatial planning, with a particular focus on the Casa da Arquitectura’s archives, estates and collections – the Portuguese Centre for Architecture and content related to the history of architecture, construction technology, sustainability and energy efficiency, under the FCT Research Grant Regulations (RBI) and the Research Grant Holder Statute (EBI).
The grants will be funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the Collaboration Protocol for the Funding of the Multi-Annual Plan for Research Grants for PhD Students, signed between the FCT and Casa da Arquitectura.
The call for applications is open from 3 March 2026 until 23:59 on 2 May 2026 (Lisbon time). Applications and supporting documents as specified in this Call for Applications must be submitted by email to bolsas@casadaarquitetura.pt.
Each candidate may submit only one application, failing which all applications submitted will be cancelled.
The PhD research grants are intended to fund the grant holder’s research activities leading to the award of a PhD degree at Portuguese universities, within accredited PhD programmes in scientific fields related to the topics described in this Call for Applications.
Research activities leading to the award of a PhD may take place at the host institution, at Casa da Arquitetura, in R&D units or at organisations proposed by the candidates.
