26 and 27 October
Debate, music, workshops and visits at the opening of the "O que faz falta" exhibition
Two days of festivities with free admission and a wide-ranging programme of activities combining debates, music, workshops and visits to the new exhibition celebrating 50 years of architecture in democracy - this is what Casa da Arquitectura is offering on 26 and 27 October.
The new exhibition ‘O que faz falta. 50 years of architecture in democracy’, which opens its doors on 26 October, is full of reasons to celebrate.
Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 will bring a wide-ranging programme of activities to the Quarteirão da Casa, including music and the voice of Capicua, visits to the new exhibition with the curators, architects Jorge Figueira and Ana Neiva, a talk with architects invited to discuss the themes proposed by the exhibition and a session dedicated to the ‘Press in Democracy’, in addition to the workshop visits that the Education Service has prepared for visitors.
Saturday's programme begins at 10.30am with a visit to the exhibition by the curators, followed at 11am by a demonstration session on ‘The Press in Democracy’. The morning ends with a workshop visit to the exhibition open to the public.
The formal opening of the exhibition will take place at 3pm in the Álvaro Siza Space. The Executive Director will welcome all those wishing to attend a talk moderated by the exhibition's curators and featuring architects Ana Luísa Soares, Gonçalo Byrne e Manuel Correia Fernandes. They will analyse the professional practice, the time that is being celebrated and ‘what is missing’ in the ongoing construction of democratic space. The debate will be followed by a musical performance by rapper Capicua.
On Sunday 27 October, starting at 11am, the Constrói workshop dedicated to the theme ‘The Portugal We Want’ will take place in the Casa Gallery. At 11am, curators Jorge Figueira and Ana Neiva will give a guided tour of the exhibition ‘O que faz falta. 50 years of Portuguese architecture in democracy’.
Entry to the exhibition and activities is free on both days, subject to capacity.
