“Architecture: drawn politics. About Manuel Correia Fernandes” opens on 22 November

On 22 November, Casa da Arquitectura will open an exhibition entirely dedicated to the life and work of architect Manuel Correia Fernandes, a project based on his vast collection, donated to the institution on 20 November 2022.
‘Architecture: drawn politics. About Manuel Correia Fernandes’, curated by Carlos Machado e Moura and researched by Vítor Alves, offers an in-depth and multifaceted journey through six decades of professional activity by one of the most influential figures in Portuguese architecture.

The architect's extensive professional career will also give rise to a publication and a series of activities parallel to the exhibition.

In ‘Architecture: drawn politics. About Manuel Correia Fernandes’, the public will be able to learn about less publicised aspects of his career, in addition to his design work, revealing new perspectives on the man and the architect.

One of the highlights will be the exhaustive list of more than 400 projects, organised by location, programme, type, client and degree of development. This unprecedented survey offers a comprehensive view of the extent, diversity and coherence of his work.

With this initiative, Casa da Arquitectura reaffirms its role as a leading institution in the preservation and promotion of Portuguese architecture, celebrating the career of Manuel Correia Fernandes and contributing to a deeper understanding of his work among the public and the professional community.
