Casa's Digital Building Lanch

The Digital Building of Casa da Arquitectura was launched on the 13th of May in an event that was broadcast live and was attended by the Prime Minister os Portugal, António Costa, the Secretary of State for Housing, Marina Gonçalves and the President of the City Council of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, among many other personalities.
The presentation of the new complex of platforms – Casa website, Online Shop and Digital Archive – was made by the Executive Director of Casa, Nuno Sampaio, who explained in detail the content of each of the levels of the Digital Building made available free of charge and in bilingual version.
The presentation ended with speeches by the President of Casa da Arquitectura, José Manuel Dias da Fonseca, followed by the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro.
The Prime Minister, António Costa, closed the event. The official recalled that he “watched the birth” of the Casa da Arquitectura project, while it was being refurbished and at its inauguration in the new facilities in 2017.
And he concluded: “When the history of what was the urban transformation of Portugal between 1974 and 2024 is made, Matosinhos will surely be a case of example of how architecture and urbanism transformed the territory”.
Celebrating the launch of the Casa da Arquitectura Digital Building, the debate “Digital Archive Challenges” took place on May 14 and brought together national and international guests for a reflection and a look at the universe of digital archives, respectively Eduardo Saron, Itaú Cultural (Brazil), Martien De Vletter, Canadian Center for Architecture (Canada), Nuno Sampaio, Casa da Arquitectura and José Miguel Rodrigues, FAUP (moderation).
