On 18 June at 6.00 pm, the Casa da Arquitetura shop will host the launch of *Without Walls*, a publication by Ateliê Gorvell that reflects on architecture, materials, time and the transformation of built spaces.
The event will feature a screening of a film directed by João Paulo Abreu, followed by a discussion between the artist Lucas Reiner, the architect Pedro Jervell and the director, providing an opportunity to explore the themes addressed in the publication and the creative universe from which it springs.
In Without Walls, the ruin emerges as a starting point for a reflection on the transitory nature of architecture and the relationship between construction, permanence and disappearance. As the book states, ‘the state of greatest freedom in the existence of a building is the ruin’, an idea that runs through the work and invites a critical re-examination of the life cycle of buildings and the materials that constitute them.
Published by Ateliê Gorvell in 2024, Without Walls brings together images, texts and reflections that explore the physical and conceptual limits of architecture, offering a sensitive reading of the multiple layers of time inscribed in the built environment.
Admission is free, subject to space availability.
