‘The Future of Adaptive Architecture’ at the 2nd International Seminar on Architecture and Sustainability - SHIFT

Under the theme ‘The Future of Adaptive Architecture’, the second edition of the International Architecture and Sustainability Seminar - SHIFT - will take place on 22 and 23 November, curated by the Italian collective Park Associati.
Organised and promoted by Casa da Arquitectura with the support of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action, this 2nd edition of the International Seminar on Architecture and Sustainability is dedicated to "The Future of Adaptive Architecture", a topic that is "very important and will become increasingly crucial in the coming years", according to the guest curators, Park Associati.

For this collective of professionals, ‘it's about rethinking existing structures and finding new uses for what we already have’, through three thematic approaches: Urban Metabolism, Material Intelligence and Architectural Activism.

Thus, through talks and round tables, different themes and architectural narratives will be addressed, all geared towards embracing change and promoting innovation. According to the curators, the seminar will feature ‘guests and innovative projects that can give us a new vision of what the future could be and that have pioneering elements capable of interpreting the needs we have at the moment.’

Park Associati is an interdisciplinary collective of architects, designers and researchers who have come together to have an impact on the world of architecture and to try to provide answers to questions about the built environment. "We believe that architecture goes beyond the mere construction of buildings and we aim to create new possibilities for our communities and the planet".

The Seminar will run throughout the 22nd, with the 23rd reserved for a workshop that will offer a more practical perspective on the use of materials.
