"O que faz falta: architecture and jazz in democracy" is the motto for an afternoon that brings together music and architecture
On 21 June, Casa da Arquitectura will host a special programme as part of the parallel programme of the exhibition ‘O que faz falta. 50 years of Portuguese architecture in democracy’, as part of the 6th edition of Jazz na Real Vinícola. ‘What's missing: architecture and jazz in democracy’ is the motto for an afternoon in the Real Vinícola block, in partnership with the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos (OJM).
Starting at 3.30pm, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition with curators Jorge Figueira and Ana Neiva, followed at 5pm by a talk with João Moreira dos Santos, at CARA - Centro de Alto Rendimento Artístico, about the history of big band writing in Portugal after the 25th of April. The programme ends at 6.30pm with a concert by the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Pedro Guedes, dedicated to Portuguese music composed for big band in recent decades, including the premiere of two new commissions.
Admission is free, subject to capacity.
Jazz at the Real Vinícola
In addition to the programme on the 21st in partnership with Casa da Arquitectura, the 6th edition of Jazz na Real Vinícola features two other free concerts, always at 18:30. On the 14th and 28th, the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos invites you to the presentation of a disc with Perico Sambeat and a concert with Antonio Loureiro, respectively.
