"O que faz falta: architecture and jazz in democracy" is the motto for an afternoon that brings together music and architecture
On 21 June, Casa da Arquitectura will host a special programme as part of the parallel programme of the exhibition ‘O que faz falta. 50 years of Portuguese architecture in democracy’, as part of the 6th edition of Jazz na Real Vinícola. ‘What's missing: architecture and jazz in democracy’ is the motto for an afternoon in the Real Vinícola block, in partnership with the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos (OJM).
A tribute and reflection on the doors that April opened in culture, ‘What is missing’ is the motto for an afternoon in the Real Vinícola neighbourhood, on a route that runs between the neighbouring Casa da Arquitectura and Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos.
At 3:30pm, a guided tour of the Casa da Arquitectura exhibition ‘What is missing. 50 years of Portuguese architecture in democracy’ offers a panoramic view of architectural production between the April 1974 Revolution and the present day, led by its curators Jorge Figueira and Ana Neiva.
At 5 p.m., João Moreira dos Santos, jazz researcher, writer and author of the radio programme ‘Jazz a 2’, will talk with the exhibition curators at C.A.R.A. about the history of writing for big bands in Portugal after 25 April.
The day ends, as it should, with a concert at 6.30 pm, conducted by Pedro Guedes, founder and artistic director of OJM, dedicated to Portuguese music written especially for jazz orchestra in recent decades, with the premiere of two commissions by João Pedro Brandão and José Pedro Coelho.
