A programme exploring the legacy of Lucio Costa beyond the exhibition

The exhibition ‘Lucio Costa Archive’, on display at Casa da Arquitetura until 13 September, is accompanied by a supporting programme that expands upon and explores the exhibition’s central themes, bringing together different voices and disciplines to reflect on the legacy of the Brazilian architect and urban planner.
Throughout the exhibition period, the programme features debates, guided tours, film screenings and music, offering multiple perspectives on the work and thinking of Lúcio Costa, as well as his relevance in the contemporary context.

The programme kicks off on 16 May with the debate ‘Brasília Revisited by the Lúcio Costa Archive’, bringing together curator Ana Vaz Milheiro and a group of international guests, followed by the concert ‘Terra de Ninguém’ by the collective Samba Sem Fronteiras. The following day, the public will be able to take part in a guided tour of the exhibition and watch a screening of the film Once Upon a Time in Brasília, by Adirley Queirós, presented by Ana Vaz Milheiro and Tales Ab’Saber.

The programme also includes guided tours with the curator and activities organised by the Educational Service, reinforcing the exhibition’s participatory and educational dimension.

With this programme, Casa da Arquitetura offers a space for encounter and critical reflection, extending the exhibition beyond its physical display and promoting dialogue around the

SATURDAY, 16 MAY

4.30 pm
Panel discussion: ‘Brasília Revisited by the Lucio Costa Archive’ with Ana Vaz Milheiro, Fernando Lara, Maria Manuel Oliveira, Matheus Seco (BLOCO Arquitetos) and Tales Ab’Saber

6.30 pm
Concert: ‘Terra de Ninguém’ by Samba Sem Fronteiras
The repertoire of the group Samba Sem Fronteiras is inspired by the samba-enredo ‘Gigante pela própria natureza, Jaçanã e um índio chamado Brasil’.
As a samba circle, and unlike the epic nature of the samba-enredo, the group acts as a chronicler of everyday life, presenting short stories and portraits of the many “Brazils” that inhabit this lush natural environment. The selected songs evoke the naturalism and realism of a people living between abundance and precariousness. Although marked by a critical eye, the performance always maintains a festive spirit.
Line-up: Felipe Vargas (vocals and guitar), Sérgio Guri (vocals and cavaquinho), Saulo Giovannini (pandeiro), João Guedes (percussion) and Lizz Marchi (surdo)

9 pm
Open-air screening of the film *Era uma vez Brasília* by Adirley Queirós (2017), presented by Ana Vaz Milheiro and Tales Ab'Saber.
Free admission. Depending on the weather, the screening may take place indoors.
