Designed between 1989 and 1991 and built between 1992 and 1994, the Casa Engenheiro Raimundo Delgado is a two-storey building, linking the living area with the surrounding grounds and the sleeping area with a large covered outdoor space, opening out onto the seascape of Montedor, in Carreço. The positioning of the house and the layout of its outdoor spaces seek to enhance the relationship with nature and the horizon, whilst providing protection from the region’s characteristic weather conditions.
The building also stands out for its use of exposed concrete with a hand-finished surface, inspired by traditional methods of working with granite, constituting a unique testament to the constructive and expressive choices adopted by the architect.
