Guided tour of the Côa Museum with architects Camilo Rebelo and Tiago Pimentel
Between the river and the landscape sculpted by time stands the Côa Museum, a work that blends into the territory and invites contemplation. On 8 November, at 11 a.m., the building will open its doors for a guided tour with architects Camilo Rebelo and Tiago Pimentel, the authors of the project. The tour is free but registration is required.

The initiative offers the public a unique opportunity to get to know the space from the perspective of its creators, exploring the concepts that guided its design and the relationship between architecture, territory and heritage.
Opened as a museum extension of the Côa Valley Archaeological Park, the Côa Museum presents itself as a space where rock art, landscape and contemporary architecture converge. The building was designed as an ‘installation in the landscape,’ subtly integrating itself into the topography and maintaining a permanent dialogue with the natural environment that surrounds it. The use of concrete pigmented with schist aggregates, characteristic of the region, reinforces this connection, evoking the textures and colours of the Upper Douro territory.
The museum offers guided tours of the Park, mobile art exhibitions, replicas of rock art panels and interactive content, promoting a comprehensive understanding of the valley's cultural heritage.
Recognised by critics and various institutions, the architectural project was awarded the Douro Architecture Prize (2014), the 3rd European Cultural Tourism Network Prize (2020) and the Education and Cultural Mediation Project Prize (2020).
