Beyond Drawing
The exhibition "Paulo: Beyond Drawing - Talking to Paulo Mendes da Rocha" opens to the public on 26 May 2023 at 9.30pmat the Galeria da Casa, curated by Rui Furtado and Marta Moreira, and designed by Ricardo Bak Gordon.
Entitled "Paulo: Beyond Drawing", the exhibition that will occupy Casa's Galley offers visitors the opportunity to gain a broader perspective of the Brazilian architect's vision of the world and his reflections on the many themes that occupied him and that, ultimately, explain his work.
Rather than following the unidirectional thread of his biography, or focusing on the typologies of his work, the structure of the exhibition will be based on the expanding geographies of the buildings and projects designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha with his partners and colleagues between the 1960s and 2010.
In parallel to "Paulo: Beyond Drawing", another exhibition "Constructed Geographies: Paulo Mendes da Rocha" is also on display. Parallel to the exhibitions, there will be a programme of activities curated by architect Nuno Sampaio, CA's Executive Director and Commissioner-General, and architect Catherine Otondo, responsible for the organisation of the Paulo Mendes da Rocha collection.
