“In 2019, we invited Teresa Siza, philosopher, curator of photography and guardian of the family’s photographic history, to mediate a conversation between Guido Guidi and Álvaro Siza.
The impossibility of bringing Guidi back to Portugal in order to continue Archigraphies, the photographic project exhibited at the Casa da Arquitectura, prevented the meeting that would allow Guido Guidi to return to Álvaro Siza the fictions that his architectures invent and, in reverse, , having the architect read the transmission of knowledge that things fix in images.
In the absence of this conversation between the protagonists, two small separate interviews, recorded in the documentary that Paulo Catrica made, allow for the voice of Guido Guidi and Álvaro Siza to be on display, celebrating the dialogue between photography and architecture.
And we now invite Tereza Siza to talk to Álvaro Siza about the presence of photography in the family history they share, the photographic profusion of his architectural work and the affinity and/or familiarity he maintained with some of these photographers and the reception of this photographic series by Guido Guidi.” – Paula Pinto and Joaquim Moreno
