Guided Visits to Real Vin�cola Quarter

This visit focuses on the Real Vinícola complex, its history, relevance and value that spans more than a century of existence.

This old factory was built between 1897 and 1901 by the company Menéres & Companhia, destined for the Real Companhia Vinícola.

Resistant to the progressive industrial transformation and housing occupation of the place, its preservation and adaptation is due to the high patrimonial and cultural value. Heritage is a model of inspiration and English tradition, where the first steam cooperage in the region existed. A branch of the railway line connected it to the docks of the Port of Leixões for expedition and export of production.

The property is part of the Matosinhos Sul Urbanization Plan, designed by Álvaro Siza and occupies the block limited by Av. Menéres, R. Mouzinho de Albuquerque, R. Sousa Aroso and R. D. João I.
