Álvaro Siza's Family House

Álvaro Siza's family house from the 19th century, remodeled by the architect in 1961 at his parents request. Bought by the Matosinhos City Council in 2007, had some remodelation works, guided by Siza, with the purpose of housing Casa da Arquitectura's activities between 2009 and 2017. The work spaces, the library, the exhibition room, the archive or the small store, were adapted to the house's typology, without betraying its scale and domesticity. The furniture and lamps, and also the wood work, reveal details that only Siza knows how to project.
