Boa Nova Tea House
Can you imagine a building that one time is hidden, and another revealed among rocks, in a close articulation with the sea? This is one of the most emblematic works of the architect Álvaro Siza, winner of the Pritzker prize and the most recognized Portuguese architect. Classified as a National Monument, the Boa Nova Tea House is one of the first works by the architect, having become an ex-libris in international architecture guides.
Tuesday to Saturday | 10 am | 1h
Leça da Palmeira Swimming Pool
A sensorial labyrinth that takes us to a swimming pool inserted in the natural landscape. A route that begins as an element of urban landscape and culminates in the unavoidable Leça da Palmeira swimming pools. Siza draws two saltwater tanks, defined by the rocks previously existing in the place, joined by concrete plans. A unique experience of relationship with the sea at its fullest.
Monday to Sunday | 10 am – 06 pm | 1h
Quinta da Conceição Swimming Pool
On this visit we will get to know the Quinta da Conceição Swimming Pool, a work signed by the architect Álvaro Siza in 1965. Addressing the relationship between teacher and student, from Fernando Távora, who designed the tennis pavilion in the same place, to Álvaro Siza, this is an opportunity to get to know the work of these architects up close, located in one of the most idyllic ancient rural proprieties in Matosinhos.
Monday to Sunday | 9 am to 6 pm | 1h
Casa em Roberto Ivens
This building, cradle of the early years of Casa da Arquitectura, belonged to the family of architect Álvaro Siza, who signed its rehabilitation project. This is a work that allows us to travel back to the architect's childhood, from the pavilion he designed at age of 15 to his decisions as a young architect. In this house we witness a harmonious dialogue between the old and the new, guided by the very particular sensitivity of Álvaro Siza.
