Casa da Arquitectura has thematic, monographic, authorial, architectural and artistic period tours relevant to general or specialist publics. On its own or articulated with other entities, these tours — guided and commented — are made available to promotors of international and national cultural tourism, and to the general public as well. These tours consist of visits to relevant spaces and buildings, meant for international and national audiences, of all ages, lasting one or more days.
The itineraries and visits is an offer for the internationalization and dissemination of the Architecture, exportable and bookable from abroad, as is currently the case with the Boa Nova Tea House, the Piscinas das Máres, the Quinta da Conceição and its pool, Port of Leixões’ cruise terminal, among other thematic itineraries — Álvaro Siza’s or Eduardo Souto de Moura’s, for example, in Matosinhos and other localities.
The visits take place as a strategic and fundamental activity of promotion of the architectural heritage, contemporary as well as historical.
Open House Porto is an example of the enormous success of this line of action. Co-produced with the Lisbon Architecture Triennial, with the partnership of the Municipal Councils of Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia, it had a first edition in 2015 with 11000 visits, and a second edition in June 2016.
It is also possible to book visits for exhibitions at Casa da Arquitectura, meant for both frequent and occasional visitors.
