7th Open House Porto: return to the origins
After a year of break and a 6th edition (2021) still conditioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, Open House Porto (OHP) returns on the 2nd and 3rd of July curated by the architect Graça Correia and the historian Joel Cleto.
Under the theme of the “House”, Open House Porto 2022 will “(re)visit the House as a home and ultimate space of intimacy” but also take “a closer look at these other common Houses – some more than others – in the within which, today as in the past, architecture and architects are decisive”.
In the words of the curators, if some of these spaces in this 7th edition “are equipment and infrastructure for collective use […], “others have more restricted access”, also including “very busy spaces in everyday life. But not for special visits like this weekend.” “This Open House Porto relaunches the look, a reflection on the way we live and architecture as protection, of a time now post-pandemic”, highlights the executive director of Casa da Arquitectura.
In this 7th edition, “we talk about inhabiting intimate spaces but also collective spaces, contemporary and historical spaces, reflecting on how to live in this post-pandemic period”, adds Nuno Sampaio, executive director of Casa da Arquitectura.“This Open House Porto relaunches the look, a reflection on the way we live and architecture as protection, of a time now post-pandemic”, highlights Nuno Sampaio.
