Ministry of Culture and Casa da Arquitectura establish partnership to promote Contemporary Architecture
The agreement was announced by the Culture Minister, Graça Fonseca, in the 28th, at Casa da Arquitectura, in Matosinhos. The goal is to stimulate the promotion, conservation, study and accessibility of Portuguese and international contemporary architecture, among professionals, students and the public.
The Ministry of Culture will support the activities developed by Casa da Arquitectura between 2019 and 2020. This includes not only the preventive treatment of the archives, national and international collections, but also the public promotion, spread and organization of exhibitions, debates, conferences.
This Friday will also be signed a partnership protocol between the General Direction for the Arts and Casa da Arquitectura about the deposit of the collection of Portuguese representations in the Venice Architecture Biennale.
The agreement will be valid for three years and assures the integration in the achieves of Casa da Arquitectura of the materials, studies and contents related to the role of national and international architecture in artistic context.
This protocol will be signed by the General Director for the Arts, Américo Rodrigues, and by the Executive Director of Casa da Arquitectura, architect Nuno Sampaio. It is also predicted, in 2020, an exhibition and publication dedicated to the international presence in the architecture field, related to this partnership.
For the Executive Director of Casa da Arquitectura, the institution has been struggling by the public recognition of architecture and the national and international value of Portuguese architects". Nuno Sampaio praises "this first step for the recognition by the Government of the work of the institution and the importance of architecture, as it was recognized by the Prime Minister, António Costa, in CA's inauguration, in November 2017".
The ceremony will also be counting with the attendance of the Culture State Secretary, Ângela Ferreira, and the City Hall President, Luísa Salgueiro.
