These workshops encourage the observation and exploration of built environment through drawing exercises, photography, collage, sculpture, construction of models and guided tours that explore different possibilities in the perception of space at different scales.

 

Our educators will guide participants to appreciate the creative qualities of the natural and built environment and use artistic techniques to express their own ideas. This experience provides a very fun environment to learn new skills, develop critical thinking and promote collaborative work.

 

The program is structured into four groups of workshops, held weekly in the morning and afternoon. Children can participate in each group of workshops separately, but ideally they should follow the proposed sequence to make the most of the experience.

 

Paper cities

Let's build imagined cities while discovering the infinite possibilities of creating with paper! We will visit the exhibition "City, House, Body - Maps and Language" at Casa da Arquitectura Gallery, and carry out reading, creative writing and participatory drawing activities. We will build colorful models and turn our workroom into the city of cities!

 

Mega polyhedral structures

Let's experience the world of geometry in a fun way, both in nature and in architecture. Exploring different techniques, materials and scales, we will discover, with the help of the triangle, how we can build polyhedral megastructures to play with!

 

Discovering industrial architecture

Join us to play, draw and build large-format models as we discover hidden places at Casa da Arquitectura and visit the Pinhais & Cia factory building, located in the heart of Matosinhos for almost a century, considered one of the most beautiful factories of preserves in the world! 

 

Draw with light

We continue exploring space, this time through photography! Zoom in, zoom out, are you ready?   We will build chambers, paint with paints that glow in the dark, mark reflections projected into space and draw with light. An experience not to be missed!

 

To finish activities each week, in the last session we prepare an exhibition curated by the children. A moment of sharing where the special guests of the participants are their families!

EXTENSIONS:

The Learning Service team at Casa da Arquitectura, ensures that registered children are welcomed throughout the day from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Children registered for the morning workshops are welcomed from 8:30 am to 10 am, with the workshops taking place from 10 am to 12:30 pm.

Children registered for the afternoon workshops are welcomed from 5pm until 5:30pm, with the workshops taking place from 2:30pm to 5pm.

 

MEALS:

Lunches not included in the total price. Participants can bring lunch from home or add lunch service for €6/day.

We recommend that participants bring a snack for the morning break and another for the afternoon break.
