Casa da Arquitectura hosts the presentation of the Piranesi Prix de Rome to Álvaro Siza
From 10 to 18 October 2025, the cities of Coimbra, Matosinhos and Porto will host the international workshop ‘Museography, Architecture and Archaeology – Progettazione Strategica e Gestione Innovativa delle Aree Archeologiche’ (Strategic Planning and Innovative Management of Archaeological Areas), focusing on the enhancement of Roman heritage in Portugal, with a special focus on the archaeological city of Conímbriga. -
14 September
Screening of The Albanian Calls at the Álvaro Siza Wing
On 14 September at 6 p.m., Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture will screen the film The Albanian Calls, directed by Anneke Abhelakh & Konstanty Konopinski. The screening is free and open to the public, with seating limited to 100 places.
After the screening, there will be a conversation with the director and some of the architects involved in the project. -

Luís Ferreira Alves Exhibition and Award 2025 open in Porto
On 12 September 2025, at 17:00, the Antiga Casa da Câmara in Porto will host the ceremony for the 1st edition of the Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Competition | A Contemporary View on Architecture.
The event will mark not only the presentation of awards to the winners but also the opening of the exhibition showcasing the selected works and the launch of the accompanying bilingual publication (Portuguese–English). -

Casa da Arquitectura welcomes Semfim: a new space dedicated to sustainability and the memory of objects
Casa da Arquitectura opens its doors to a new project rooted in the values of innovation, memory, and sustainability. Semfim, now located at Store 5 in Matosinhos, introduces a concept that goes beyond the idea of a traditional shop: a space where consumption becomes reflection, and where objects regain meaning. -

Catalogue ‘O que faz falta’ - 50 years of Portuguese architecture in democracy selected for Best Book Design From All Over the World 2026
The catalogue "O que faz falta" - 50 Years of Portuguese Architecture in Democracy has been distinguished by the jury of the 2025 Book Design Award, promoted by the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB). The publication was selected to be part of the set of 20 Portuguese books that will represent the country in the international competition Best Book Design From All Over the World 2026, organized by the Buchkunst Foundation in Germany, one of the most prestigious institutions dedicated to the appreciation and promotion of editorial design worldwide. -

‘Constructed Geographies’: Casa da Arquitectura launches Paulo Mendes da Rocha's catalogue at Sesc 24 de Maio in São Paulo
Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture, in partnership with Sesc São Paulo, is promoting the launch of the catalogue Geografias Construídas – Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the most comprehensive publication dedicated to the architect since the donation of his collection to the Portuguese institution in 2019. -

21st edition of the Fernando Távora Award 2025 — Applications open until 11 August
There is less than a month left until the deadline for applications for the Fernando Távora Award, which annually recognises the best proposal for a research trip in architecture, with a grant of €6,000. The deadline for submitting applications is 11 August. -

Constructed Geographies: a conversation about the legacy of Paulo Mendes da Rocha at FLIP
Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture will be present at the 23rd edition of the Paraty International Literary Festival (FLIP), which will host the presentation of the book ‘Geografias Construídas: Paulo Mendes da Rocha’ (Constructed Geographies: Paulo Mendes da Rocha) on 1 August at 12 noon at Casa da Cultura. The book pays tribute to one of the most important architects in modern Brazilian history. -

Applications for the Luis Ferreira Alves | A Contemporary Look at Architecture International Photography Competition are open until 25 April. This biannual competition aims to pay tribute to the legacy of the nationally and internationally recognised photographer of excellence, whose work has spanned the transition from analogue to digital and whose collection has been deposited at Casa da Arquitectura since November 2021. -

Applications are now open for the XXVI edition of the Arquia 2025 Scholarships
Casa da Arquitectura is one of the organisations featured in the XXVI edition of the Arquia Scholarships 2025, promoted by the Arquia Foundation, which has open applications for 51 professional practice scholarships. Aimed at young architects and students who have recently graduated from faculties in Spain and Portugal, they are designed to provide practical experience in architectural offices and institutions of international prestige. Casa da Arquitectura is participating with a grant in the area of Cultural Management.

Casa da Arquitectura attends QSP Summit with special session on the strategic role of architecture
Casa da Arquitectura will be present at the 18th edition of the QSP Summit, one of the most prestigious European management and marketing events, with a special session dedicated to the strategic role of architecture in Portugal's development. The initiative will take place on 3 July at Exponor – Porto International Fair and will bring together leading figures to reflect on architecture as an economic, social and cultural driver for the country.

Luis Ferreira Alves Prize with over 1000 submissions from 80 countries
The Luis Ferreira Alves Prize | A Contemporary Look at Architecture closed its application period on 25 April with a remarkable record: more than 1,000 submissions from 80 countries, with special emphasis on Portugal, the homeland of the honoured photographer. The award has thus established itself as an international platform of reference for the valorisation of architectural photography. -

The 10 finalists for the 2025 Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Award have been announced
The winners will be announced on 28 June at 4 p.m. at Casa da Arquitectura. The event will include a conversation with the members of the jury: architect Eduardo Souto de Moura and photographers Hélène Binet and Paulo Catrica. -
