    Congratulation Vote for donation of Paulo Mendes da Rocha's Collection to Casa

    The Portuguese Parliament unanimously approved the vote of congratulation presented by the Socialist Party (PS) for the donation of Paulo Mendes da Rocha´s collection to Casa da Arquitectura, in Matosinhos, “recognizing the importance of this institution in the treatment, archiving and dissemination of architectural heritage”.

    Faculty of Engeenering celebrated20 years in Asprela

     FEUP – Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto celebrates 20 years at the Asprela Campus, a project by architect Pedro Ramalho whose collection is in the care of Casa da Arquitectura. The celebrations start in October and include a cycle of debates, exhibitions, a “travel in time”, among other events open to the entire community.

    Manuel Pizarro defends support of the Portuguese State to Casa da Arquitectura

    On the 29th July, Casa da Arquitectura received a visit from the President of the District Federation of PS Porto, Manuel Pizarro, accompanied by deputy Pedro Bacelar de Vasconcelos representing the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party and the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro . The group was received by the Executive Director of Casa da Arquitectura, architect Nuno Sampaio.

    The Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) won funding of 100 thousand euros from the Getty Foundation to study the management and conservation of the Leça da Palmeira Swimming Pool, designed by Álvaro Siza. The study has the support of the Municipality of Matosinhos and the institutional support of Casa da Arquitectura.

    ''Technologies

    Casa da Arquitectura is a strategic partner of the project "Escolas: Complexidade e Interpretação" (“Schools: Complexity and Interpretation"). This project, based at the Centro de Estudos de Arquitectura e Urbanismo (Study Centre of Architecture and Urbanism), was created by a collaboration of two investigation groups that has the architecture transformation of school buildings sponsored by Parque Escolar, E.P.E. as a base. This project is coordinated by André Santos (HPTD and E/AdC); collaboration of Ana Costa e Silva (AdC), Luís Viegas (DiPDArq/MDT) and Rui Américo Cardoso (DiPDArq/MDT), and represents a universe of 76 schools "north" located of the country.

    Exhibition "Siza antes do Siza. Álvaro Siza L'Opera Prima" opened to the public January 11 and 12

    Casa da Arquitectura showed the CASABELLA exhibition Siza antes do Siza. Álvaro Siza l’opera prima on the 11th and 12th January, between 10am and 7pm, at Casa Roberto Ivens, 582, in Matosinhos.
    The exhibition, curated by Massino Curzi, was installed previously in CASABELLA laboratory in Milan, at the same time as the launch of CASABELLA number 896. This edition is totally devoted to the first project of Álvaro Siza, the "4 houses" in Matosinhos (1954-1956).
